The moment I met Sjoerd and Nienke I knew their wedding was going to
be a blast. This couple is laidback, outdoorsy and spontaneous. Their
hobbies are surfing and gliding – a bit wilder than my knitting and
drinking hot chocolate by the fire! But we had a great connection and
I was looking forward to their wedding.
It did not disappoint. They got married in a B&B called De Ruige
Weide, in Oudewater, which is fun to get to. Travelling via tiny roads
and across cute canals, I arrived in time to capture the preparations.
Nienke took a little longer to get party ready, whilst Sjoerd added
the finishing touches to his vows.
Once ready, they made their promises to each other in the B&B’s
beautiful garden. Then their guests joined them for a lovely, intimate
ceremony. It was short and very sweet, with great speeches from all of
Sjoerd and Nienke’s nearest and dearest. We enjoyed a slice of cake
and the guests got to play with the homemade wooden games Sjoerd had
made especially for this day.
Dinner was served under the dark wooden beams and fairy lights in the
shed, on long tables that were beautifully decorated with white,
copper and foliage. It was an Italian feast, and they had even laid a
place for me and the videographer! I don’t expect to be treated like
a guest, so it filled me with warmth to be welcomed like that.
After dinner, Sjoerd and Nienke said farewell to their guests and we
headed into the forest for a sunset shoot. The couple looked stunning
surrounded by dry grass, tall trees and the occasional flock of farm
animals. Finally, they headed off in their little vintage Citroën to
live happily ever after.
